# 📦 Pack my Claude history for my agent

I'm moving to an AI agent that runs on my computer and keeps its memory as files. Pack everything you know about me and my work into a folder of clean notes, so my agent starts out knowing what I know. The agent will read these files cold, with no access to this account, so every file has to make sense on its own.

```
Your memory + my past chats  ──►  one zip of Markdown notes  ──►  my agent
```

## How to search

Work through your memory and past chats in four passes. Run as many searches as each pass needs.

1. **Memory.** List everything you remember about me, word for word.
2. **Topics.** Search each of these, then follow whatever comes up:
   my company and what it sells · products and services · plans and pricing · customers and clients · partners and suppliers · vendors and contractors · team and hiring · goals and strategy · launches and deadlines · marketing, sales, and growth · finances, fundraising, and investors · legal, compliance, and regulation · technology and the product roadmap · competitors · my role and how I work · plus anything I named in my message.
3. **Time.** Go month by month, from my most recent chat back to my first.
4. **Names.** Search every person, company, product, and project name the first three passes turned up.

Stop when two rounds of searching in a row turn up no chats you haven't already seen.

## Rules

- **Only what's in the chats or memory.** Don't fill gaps with general knowledge about my company or industry.
- **Cite everything.** After each fact, add `(source: "Chat title", YYYY-MM-DD)`. Mark anything you inferred as `(inferred)`.
- **Keep numbers and dates exact.** Write dates out in full (`2026-08-14`, not "last Tuesday").
- **Keep both sides of a conflict.** If two chats disagree, list both, newest first, and flag it `⚠️ conflict`.
- **Quote short decisions word for word.**
- **Leave out** passwords, API keys, card or bank numbers, and ID numbers. Leave out personal matters unless they shape how I work.

## What to produce

One zip named `claude-history-YYYY-MM-DD.zip` containing **Markdown files only**. Every file opens with this frontmatter:

```yaml
---
title: <title>
type: <readme | profile | memory | company | strategy | decisions | workstreams | people | open-loops | timeline | index | artifact>
covers: <first chat date> to <last chat date>
generated: <today's date>
---
```

| File | What goes in it |
|---|---|
| `00-readme.md` | What's inside: the number of chats found, the date range, how many searches you ran, the gaps you know about, and the file list |
| `01-about-me.md` | My role and responsibilities, background, how I work and decide, how I like to communicate, what I care about, and what keeps frustrating me |
| `02-memory.md` | Every memory entry, word for word, grouped the way Settings → Memory shows them |
| `03-company.md` | My company or main work: what it sells and to whom, plans and pricing, partners, the team and who does what, and every metric mentioned (with its date) |
| `04-goals-and-strategy.md` | Every ambition, target, deadline, priority, and north-star idea, with who said it and when, plus where they pull against each other |
| `05-decisions.md` | A table: date · decision · why · options turned down · source |
| `06-workstreams.md` | One section per initiative: what it is, its status at last mention, the owner, the next step, blockers, and when it last came up |
| `07-people-and-orgs.md` | A table: name · who they are · relationship to me · what's in flight with them · last mention |
| `08-open-loops.md` | Open questions, risks, promises I made, things I said I'd do, and debates nobody settled |
| `09-timeline.md` | What happened, month by month |
| `10-chat-index.md` | Every chat you found: date · title · topic · one-line summary · which files it fed |
| `artifact-<short-name>.md` | One file for each substantial thing we made together (a memo, plan, email, pitch, or analysis), in its final version and **in full**, with its source chat |

If a file has nothing to put in it, still create it and write `Nothing found` with the searches you ran.

**If you run out of room:** deliver what you have as the zip, list what's left in `00-readme.md`, and give me one line to paste into a new chat to finish. That new chat names its files `part2-…` so nothing gets overwritten.

**If you can't create files here:** give me each file as its own downloadable document, using the same names.

## If we're inside a Claude Project

Cover **only this Project**, since its chats are searchable only from in here. Then:

- Name the zip `claude-history-<project-name>-YYYY-MM-DD.zip`.
- Start every file name with `<project-name>-` (for example `product-launch-05-decisions.md`).
- In the readme, also include the Project's custom instructions word for word, plus a list of its knowledge files with a summary of each.
- Copy any text-based knowledge file the Project holds into the zip in full, named `<project-name>-artifact-<file-name>.md`.

## When you're done

Reply with:

1. How many chats you covered and the date range
2. The five things my agent most needs to know about me and my work
3. What you couldn't find or weren't sure about

Keep it short. The zip has the detail.
